Expanding our knowledge about programming!

So i’m not  an advanced programmer, but i’m not a beginner either. I was somewhere in between beginner-intermediate to intermediate. And there comes a time, when you’re writing code and while it works, you know it’s inefficient and that there must be a better way of doing this. Well there is I’ve recently read these two books:

Learning C# Programming with Unity 3D

Game Programming Patterns

And I can not recommend them enough. I’m  a self learner, and these two books have really helped me get a grasp on quite a few subjects from delegates, event-systems, to bytecode pattern implementation in Unity. I can honestly say i’m nearing the advanced side of the programming spectrum after having read these books. Hope this helps anyone who is at the same/similar stage as I was.

Good luck and keep learning, it will take time, but we can do it!

This was one of the biggest issues I ran into. Before when I was only developing for iOS, game center was enough. But now since switching to Unity I just didn’t want to approach the subject of online leaderboards and user management.

GameSparks to the rescue. I have searched extensively for any back end that could be easy enough to implement even for me, as I’ve never dealt with services like that. And finally I found it. I looked at PlayFab, which looks like a great tool, but they are still quite young and they don’t have any proper tutorials of how to deal with their API, there is some videos but no where near as good as GameSparks. I’ve look at a lot of others too before I found these guys.

When I found these guys I had a look at their tutorials and they just made sense and were super clear, so if anyone is struggling with this, give these guys a shot.

How does one make it in this world?

So it’s been a while since I posted anything. It’s hard you know, hard to go about your day to day life trying to earn for a living.

At least I don’t have children to support. I can see why so many people just get stuck in this day to day life. I can see why they stop looking for a way out of this rat wheel. It’s hard if you want to do something that you never done before, getting out of your comfort zone. You keep trying and you keep failing, that’s the way to mastery. You get up, you do your thing, you fail at it, you go to sleep. You get up, do your thing again, you fail at it again, you go to sleep again. Rinse and repeat until you fail less, one day you might succeed.

You can see how hard it is, how long can one keep this cycle up. This is the reason why there are many people who don’t fulfill their dreams. I don’t blame them, I do this and I fail a lot and it’s really hard to get up again, day after day, week after week. But someone has to do it, right? Someone has to succeed as long as they persevere. Some has to be the person that people look up to and say, “he got lucky!”! Lucky… right… that has to do a lot with it, right? The person got “lucky” by getting up after every failure and with blood and grit fighting through the next hurdle, never giving up, never failing to fail and get up again.

And it is hard, the daily grind towards your “lucky” day. And most of us fail and give up. I hope I have the strength to carry on through. I fail, a lot, and sometimes it takes me longer to get up. sometimes it takes an hour, a day…. but sometimes it takes weeks, a month, a year. But I get up, eventually with more drive than I had before. And that’s what matters, don’t beat yourself up for failing, learn from your failures, even that is hard.

Time to get back up and do the daily grind. Keep grinding, you WILL succeed one day or you will die trying!

So we’re working on a new game! Shhhh it’s a secret ;)

So we are working on a new game!

You can check out the flash version here : http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/639560

We are improving the design, replayability and cleaning out the bugs, repackaging with new art and sounds and we will push it out to you guys hopefully in a month or so! Let me know what you think of this game? You got suggestions on how to make it better? Please keep the opinion to yourself, we know what we are doing 😛
